Discovery of Neo-Assyrian Palace near Mosul

Archaeologists have made an unexpected discovery while documenting ISIL’s destruction of the Tomb of the Prophet Jonah, near Mosul. You can learn more about the discovery, and see both photos and a video, here. The palace appears to date from the reign of King Esarhaddon and the seventh century B.C.E.
